Shocked Eva at 4 months old being judged by Hank Greenwood in Hickory, NC.
Eyetrap Kennels is a small kennel located just outside Wilmington, NC. We have raised purebred American Pit Bull Terriers since 1991. In 1995 we became involved with ADBA sanctioned Conformation & Weight Pull competitions. In 2004 we started Cape Fear APBT Club in our hometown to offer local pit bull owners positive ways to interact with their dogs.

Press' CH Shamrock at 10 months old at the Charlotte, NC show in 2002. We have used many different working bloodlines over the years and found great success out of most of them. Our current yard uses a strong concentration of the "Budweiser Crusher" line crossed with the success of Klassic-K9 dogs. We also have some special "old school" Red Boy and Chinaman blood, as well as Sorrell's proven line that we plan to add for extra drive and determination out of our stock. All of our dogs are bred for loyalty, intelligence, adaptability, courage, heart, and an affectionate disposition. This allows them to excel at whatever task is thrown their way, while still upholding the greatest image of public perception. Our kennel name deeply captures the essence of our dogs, they are a true "eye-trap".
Press' CH Chompers at 12 months old being judged by Hank Greenwood in Hickory, NC.
We travel all over the country showing our dogs at ADBA events, and occasionally will attend AADR shows. The younger dogs stay at the conformation ring while the older ones will sometimes enter the pulls. We are still training for weight pull and feel it is important not to take on too much too quickly. While we do love to compete, our dogs are part of the family and this always comes first. They are raised and trained to work with us, not because they feel we force them to.

Press' CH Potato took 1st in 12-18 month females in PA in 1999. We do not breed our dogs often, as we feel quality of life is often left behind when overflown with quantity. All of our dogs here deserve their special time daily for training, socialization and love, something we will never compromise just to have a larger yard. When we do decide on a breeding, it is for us, to enhance what we are working with and to improve our breed. When we do offer dogs to the public, we try to place them in show homes first. Occasionally we have an exceptional pet home offer or a pup that would prefer the pet life. When this occurs, we have the pup fixed and offer training lessons to the new owner.

Goode & Press' Rayven Storm with her first ribbon in Odessa, TX under judge Ronnie Ewing March, 2006.

It is no secret that the APBT is loyal, hard working and faithful to their owners. This is why they excel as service dogs when allowed to perform. We currently have one female on our yard that it being trained to be an assitance dog. (Press' Shocked Eva) We will not place her out, she will remain here and visit local hospitals and senior homes. Her first visit has been here in Wilmington, and they just adore her! She enjoys laying close to patients and smiling at them. Children can't get enough of it, and the seniors enjoy having someone to snuggle. We are working towards enrolling her in the "Paws for Reading" program as she just can't get enough of a child's love.

Here at Eyetrap Kennels we always welcome people to ask our advice or just have someone in the breed to talk to. We try to help new owners prevent mistakes and enjoy their dogs. We stand firmly behind our bloodlines, but do not believe in bashing others. We feel what you feed is your business, and respect anyone that stands behind such an incredible breed, no matter what bloodline or color your dog may be. These dogs stand firm in what they believe in and they deserve such out of their owners! We are not involved in any illegal activities with our animals, and while we respect the resistance to defeat that made these dogs the amazingly versitile creatures that they are, there is just no need for it to continue in today's society. There are plenty of other activities you can do with your dogs, and we welcome the new competition to the show rings.
